Eleven research papers published in the September ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science (Volume 655) examine state policy initiatives such as financing for student scholarships, fiscal responses to the Great Recession, the implementation of âperformance fundingâ to allocate funds to state colleges, the use of âPâ20 councilsâ to align high school curriculum with college readiness, and the disparate effects of gubernatorial and legislative leadership.
“Taken as a whole,” the volume’s press release reads, “the new research does not paint a pretty picture of the current state of higher education in America.”
